Parents Play Critical Role in Teen's Safe Driving

said that parents are key to better driver training for teens, specifically through parent-teen contracts. I have the pleasure of serving on the board of the National Organizations for Youth Safety , a collaborative network of national organizations and federal agencies that focus on youth safety and health. While NOYS focuses largely on youth-to-youth mentoring and leadership, we understand that parents play a huge role in the development of novice driver attitudes and practical experience. Jurisdictions play a vital role in ensuring that new drivers are well-trained and ready to face the challenges of driving on our highways and roads once they are licensed. Engaging parents in that effort is critical to young drivers becoming experienced, safe drivers throughout their years behind the wheel.
